Register my first queen

After creating your account, the first step is to register your breeding queen (F0) on BeePass. This record is the starting point of your genetic passport.

Access the form

  1. In the sidebar menu, open Queens > Add F0
  2. The form displays with required and optional fields

Required information

These fields are necessary to create your queen's record:

FieldDescriptionExample
Queen nameUnique identifier in your breeding operationBuckfast-2025-01
Birth yearYear of birth or breeding2025
RaceBreed or lineage of the queenBuckfast, Carnica, Mellifera...
Insemination typeMating method1 = SDI (single), 2 = MDI (multiple)
Unique name

The queen name must be unique within your breeding operation. If you import queens from BeeBreed or Index Mellifera, the official serial number will be used automatically.

These fields are not mandatory, but they significantly enrich your record:

FieldDescriptionWhy fill it in
Dam IDExternal identifier of the motherBuilds the pedigree tree
Sire group IDIdentifier of the drone donor groupRequired for EBV calculation
Breeder codeYour official code (e.g., FR-44-001)Links the queen to your public profile
Pedigree and genetic evaluation

Fill in the dam and sire group at registration time. Without pedigree, the BLUP engine cannot calculate the breeding values (EBV) for your queen.

Life cycle

Each F0 queen has a life cycle status, automatically tracked by BeePass:

StatusMeaning
TestingCurrently being evaluated by testers
ProductionValidated, used in breeding
SoldSold to another breeder
DeadDeceased

Status transitions are recorded in the queen's history with the date of change.

After registration

Once your queen is registered, you can:

  • Add F1 daughters to track offspring in production
  • Enter field evaluations (honey, gentleness, hygiene...)
  • View the pedigree across 3 to 7 generations
  • Generate a QR code to identify the queen at the apiary
