Register my first queen
After creating your account, the first step is to register your breeding queen (F0) on BeePass. This record is the starting point of your genetic passport.
Access the form
- In the sidebar menu, open Queens > Add F0
- The form displays with required and optional fields
Required information
These fields are necessary to create your queen's record:
| Field | Description | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Queen name | Unique identifier in your breeding operation | Buckfast-2025-01 |
| Birth year | Year of birth or breeding | 2025 |
| Race | Breed or lineage of the queen | Buckfast, Carnica, Mellifera... |
| Insemination type | Mating method | 1 = SDI (single), 2 = MDI (multiple) |
The queen name must be unique within your breeding operation. If you import queens from BeeBreed or Index Mellifera, the official serial number will be used automatically.
Recommended information
These fields are not mandatory, but they significantly enrich your record:
| Field | Description | Why fill it in |
|---|---|---|
| Dam ID | External identifier of the mother | Builds the pedigree tree |
| Sire group ID | Identifier of the drone donor group | Required for EBV calculation |
| Breeder code | Your official code (e.g., FR-44-001) | Links the queen to your public profile |
Fill in the dam and sire group at registration time. Without pedigree, the BLUP engine cannot calculate the breeding values (EBV) for your queen.
Life cycle
Each F0 queen has a life cycle status, automatically tracked by BeePass:
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Testing | Currently being evaluated by testers |
| Production | Validated, used in breeding |
| Sold | Sold to another breeder |
| Dead | Deceased |
Status transitions are recorded in the queen's history with the date of change.
After registration
Once your queen is registered, you can:
- Add F1 daughters to track offspring in production
- Enter field evaluations (honey, gentleness, hygiene...)
- View the pedigree across 3 to 7 generations
- Generate a QR code to identify the queen at the apiary
