First QR code
BeePass QR codes create a direct link between the physical queen at the apiary and her digital genetic passport. A single scan with your phone is all it takes to access all of a queen's data.
Generate a QR code
- Open a queen's record from Queens > F0 List
- Click on the desired queen to access her detail page
- Click the QR code icon in the action bar
The QR code is generated instantly and can be downloaded as an image.
QR code contents
The QR code contains a link to your queen's public passport page. Anyone who scans it can view:
- The queen's name and breed
- Her pedigree (dam, sire group)
- Her life cycle status
- Available evaluation results
Only public passport information is accessible via the QR code. Your personal data and private notes remain confidential.
Field use
The QR code is designed for use in the field:
- Print it and stick it on the hive or on a laminated label
- Scan it with your phone camera (iPhone or Android)
- Access the data for that queen instantly, even at the apiary
Use weatherproof laminated labels. The QR code works even when partially damaged thanks to built-in error correction. For durable labels, use the Zebra export (.zpl) with a thermal printer on polyester.
Batch printing
To generate labels for multiple queens at once, go to Tools > QR Codes:
- Select the queens from the list
- Choose the format: Nicot (cage 30x50mm) or Round (sticker 35mm)
- Click Generate PDF or Export Zebra (.zpl) for thermal printers
For more details, see the full QR code documentation.
