Overview
The breeding calendar centralizes your beekeeping events: inseminations, grafting, transfers, treatments. It syncs bidirectionally with Google Calendar and Apple Calendar so your apiary appointments are always at hand.
Creating an event
- Click on a calendar cell (month view) or on a time slot (week view)
- Enter the event title
- Choose the start and end date/time (15-minute intervals)
- Add a location with Google Maps autocomplete
- Select a color to categorize the event
- Add an optional description
- Click Save
When you click on a day in month view, BeePass automatically suggests the next 30-minute slot with a 1h30 duration. No more starting at midnight!
Event types
- Timed events: grafting at 9:00 AM, insemination at 2:00 PM, apiary visit
- All-day events: treatment window, feeding period, evaluation session
Toggle All day to hide the time fields and plan across one or more days.
Colors
Categorize your events with 5 available colors:
| Color | Suggested use |
|---|---|
| Blue (primary) | Breeding: grafting, transfer, check |
| Green (green) | Harvest: honey weighing, extraction |
| Red (red) | Urgent: insemination, varroa treatment |
| Orange (warning) | Preparation: feeding, starter |
| Gray (default) | Admin: orders, appointments |
Calendar view
The calendar offers a Google Calendar-like interface:
- Month view: overview with color dots
- Week view: detailed time slots
- Navigation: arrows to move to the next month or week
- Today: button to jump back to today's date
Synchronization
Connect your existing calendars for bidirectional sync:
- Google Calendar: connect via OAuth, automatic synchronization
- Apple Calendar: connect via CalDAV, app-specific password
Events created in BeePass appear in your external calendar and vice versa.
Use countdown templates to automatically plan a full breeding cycle (grafting, insemination, evaluation, wintering) from a single target date.
