beeXML
This format is not yet available. It will be integrated in a future update.
beeXML is the international XML standard for beekeeping data interchange, developed under the auspices of Apimondia. It is the most interoperable format for transferring genetic data between selection software.
Format
A beeXML file is an XML document structured according to the beeXML schema. It contains standardized tags for:
- Identification: queen, breeder, apiary
- Pedigree: parentage links (dam, sire, drone group)
- Evaluations: performance traits with normalized units and scales
- Metadata: dates, geographic coordinates, insemination method
Detection
Detection is fully automatic. BeePass identifies beeXML files by their XML structure and namespace. No user intervention required.
Import
Mapping is complete and automatic:
- Queens: created with all identification and pedigree fields
- Evaluations: imported with scale conversion if necessary
- Parentage links: dam, sire, and drone group resolved automatically
The import preserves all data from the beeXML file. Fields specific to the beeXML schema that have no BeePass equivalent are stored in the origin_data JSON field.
If your beekeeping management software supports beeXML export, prefer this format for maximum data preservation. It is the most complete standard for genetic data exchange.
