BIBBA
This format is not yet available. It will be integrated in a future update.
BIBBA (Bee Improvement and Bee Breeders' Association) is the British association dedicated to the improvement of native bees. Their Stud Book uses an Excel format with 17 specific evaluation traits.
Format
The BIBBA Stud Book is an Excel file (.xlsx) containing:
- Identification: queen name, breeding number, birth year
- Pedigree: dam, sire (drone group)
- 17 evaluation traits: scores specific to the BIBBA program
Detection
Detection is semi-automatic. BeePass identifies the BIBBA file structure but asks you to confirm trait mapping, because:
- BIBBA scoring scales differ from BeePass (for example, some traits range from 1 to 5 instead of 1 to 4)
- Some BIBBA traits have no direct equivalent in the BeePass schema
- Scale conversion requires your validation
Trait mapping
The import wizard displays a correspondence table between BIBBA columns and BeePass fields. For each trait:
- Direct match: the mapping is pre-filled (e.g. gentleness, comb sitting)
- Scale conversion: BeePass proposes a conversion and shows before/after values
- No equivalent: traits without a match are preserved in the
origin_dataJSON field
Review the proposed mapping, adjust if necessary, then confirm to start the import.
The BIBBA format requires manual confirmation of trait mapping. The wizard guides you step by step — expect about 2 minutes to review the correspondences.
